Kmart shopper stuns with DIY feature wall hack: 'Best I've seen'

Budget home renovators have been flocking to Kmart ever since the budget retailer launched a home range last year. But the latest transformation shared by one shopper could be the best Kmart transformation yet.

Using the popular $29 4-Pack Light Stone Decking Tiles, the DIY enthusiast totally transformed her living room, creating a stunning feature wall around her TV and fireplace.

Saying she "couldn't be happier", the woman took to Facebook group to share her incredible fireplace glow-up. "Living room starting to take shape, starting with our feature wall," she wrote alongside a pic of the wall.

Revealing she was quoted "thousands for a stonemason" to complete the job, she decided to take matters into her own hands and get it done herself, turning to the Kmart's easy-to-install tile.

Using 17 packs of interlocking tiles made from natural travertine stone, four bags of grout and some cement, she was able to create the beautiful feature wall for just $600.

Fellow Kmart fans couldn't get over how good the project turned out. "Now this is what a call a successful hack - looks amazing!" one person commented. "That feature wall looks absolutely stunning," exclaimed another. "Obsessed with this," added a third.

Several others said her use of the Kmart tiles was the best they'd seen. "Looks great! I think this is the first use of these I've been truly impressed with," someone responded. "Best application of those tiles I've seen. Looks fantastic!" offered another.

The woman behind the transformation went on to reveal exactly how she achieved the dramatic effect, explaining that she wasn't a fan of the straight edges on the tile so decided to cut them up. "I left the edges around the sides straight so it gave it the best and easiest finish. The ones in the middle of the wall I removed all the outer ones to give it an organic finish," she said.

The Kmart website has been flooded with rave reviews of the tiles since they were released. "Have had so many compliments on these tiles. Could have laid them slightly differently so the edges weren't obvious but it still looks fantastic. Great quality," one shopper wrote after using them to revamp a bathroom floor. "Awesome product. Really easy to lay and click together," another added, revealing that the worst part was actually finding them in stock.
