Including 17 floral installations on three floors of the mansion, 13 vendors in the carriage house market, and contemporary artists, landscape tours, and family-oriented workshops, the Lyndhurst Flower Show is a surprisingly modern twist on a traditional format.

The property's 2023 season, entitled Unlocking Lyndhurst, is a season of fresh perspectives and increased access for all. Keeping with that theme, the Lyndhurst Flower Show transforms a traditional format to appeal to contemporary audiences of all generations and backgrounds.

The show is centered around large, experiential installations in the many rooms of Lyndhurst mansion created by floral designers from Westchester County, New York City, and the Hudson Valley. Many of the installations combine old and new, including elaborate floral crowns designed by artist Joshua Werber placed on mannequins wearing 1920s flapper dresses belonging to Lyndhurst's last owner, Anna Gould, Duchess of Talleyrand and recently acquired from a Paris auction. Contemporary artist becca van k will exhibit 1950s folding lawn chairs reworked with macramé and faux fur placed side-by-side with Lyndhurst's own 19th century cast iron garden furniture. Those attending the member's preview party will have the opportunity to win one of two floral basketballs designed by President Obama's portraitist Kehinde Wiley, which can be viewed in Lyndhurst's grand picture gallery, along with the mansion's collection of fine 19th century paintings.

"The Lyndhurst Flower Show lets visitors explore the mansion at their own pace, making it great for families with young children or adults who prefer to visit without a guided tour. With a full weekend of programming, this visitor favorite, now turned beloved annual tradition, is an all-encompassing experience with something for everyone," noted Howard Zar, Executive Director, Lyndhurst.

About the Flower ShowOpening the Lyndhurst 2023 season on Saturday, April 15th and Sunday, April 16th, the Flower Show features 17 floral designers and contemporary artists working in flowers, botanicals, brass, folded paper, and other materials, to create an immersive floral experience in one of the most iconic historic mansions.

Visit the botanical market featuring a curated collection of floral and garden offerings by local artisans, florists, and boutiques. Free activities will be available throughout the property including special walk and talk landscape tours and floral-themed workshops for the whole family. A pop-up cafe will be in the welcome center for visitors to enjoy a bite to eat.

Lyndhurst is transformed with luscious botanical displays that highlight and harmonize with the opulent interiors of the historic mansion. Au Ciel returns to the Flower Show to create unique floral-based tablescape in the parlor and Sourabh Gupta Designs’ hyper realistic paper flowers will grace the dining room. New this year, the kitchens have been added to our display and the Grand Picture Gallery will feature special installations from contemporary Hudson Valley artists Susan Wides, Jim Holl, and Kehinde Wiley who work with or are inspired by florals. And, because a room without flowers is like the human form without jewelry, a gemstone and jewelry preview will also be held in the Grand Picture Gallery by Bonhams Skinner auction house. As part of our ongoing sustainability efforts, Lyndhurst is partnering with Garbage Goddess, an eco-cleanup service to compost all organic matter, reuse and recycle all relevant materials, and return supplies to partnered vendors.

The Flower Show will open on Friday, April 14th with a member's only preview party, sponsored by Sunnyside Federal Savings & Loan, from 6-8 PM. Join or renew your membership now to ensure your spot on the guest list!

The Flower Show is on view from Saturday, April 15th to Sunday, April 16th from 10 AM – 4 PM. Tickets are available for purchase online.
