WESTCHESTER | 2 STONE HOLLOW WAY, ARMONK, N.Y.

A five-bedroom, four-full-and-two-half-bath, 6,200-square-foot home built in 1985, with hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows and recessed lighting; an open living and family room with a fireplace; a formal dining room; an eat-in kitchen with a skylight, Calacatta marble countertops, a large island and a wine fridge; an en suite primary bedroom with a sitting area, bay windows, two closets, a dressing room, steam shower, double vanity and a tub that overlooks the yard; a bonus family room; a finished lower level with a fireplace; and an attached three-car garage, on 2.11 acres. Pros

One bedroom has been converted into an office with built-ins. The open floor plan works for entertaining but does not compromise privacy. Westchester County Airport and the White Plains train station are nearby.

Cons

The bedrooms feel in need of upgrades when compared with the contemporary aesthetics in the living areas. Though the property stretches over two acres, the yard is awkwardly laid out beyond the pool and grilling area.

Bergen | 262 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, N.J.

A five-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom house designed in the 1970s by an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, with a sunken living room with wood-burning fireplace; two staircases; an updated eat-in kitchen; a large primary bedroom suite with a gas fireplace; a three-car attached garage, on 1.86 acres with extensive outdoor decking and footpaths, a hot tub and a tennis court. Pros

The design incorporates feng shui concepts, with flowing spaces, vaulted ceilings, skylights and selectively placed banks of floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over an attractively landscaped yard, tennis court, lake and a section of Saddle River.

Cons

Some of the pastel-colored and mirrored walls need updating, as does the partially finished basement.

Given the fast pace of the current market, some properties may no longer be available at the time of publication.
