3D Stripe rug by Annike Laigo
Dezeen Showroom: Estonian textile designer Annike Laigo has created a wavy, hand-tufted wool rug, which is available via online lifestyle store NID.
Named 3D Stripe rug, the floor covering is woven using a single colour of yarn but using different pile heights to create a playful 3D effect.
"I love to experiment, whether it is a new technique or material," said Laigo. "The wavy relief surface brings a 3D element into traditional, two-dimensional rug design."
"In my work, I focus on necessity," she continued. "I prefer to design something that has both functional and emotional value."
Made from New Zealand wool, the rug is available in white, light grey and blush in three sizes, with the largest being two metres by three metres. Custom sizes and colours are available on request.
Interior design is by Ace of Space and photography by Märt Lillesiim.
