I'm a DIY pro & gave my garden fences a major glow

A DIY pro has revealed how she gave her garden fences a major glow-up for just £35, proving there's no need to splash out on pricey paneling.

Carly took to TikTok to share a step-by-step guide on how she used 95p wooden battens to cover up her bog-standard fence.

And while not everyone was convinced her DIY solution would last, the DIY pro was thrilled with the end result.

Known online as @homestyle_bycarly, the Surrey-based content creator regularly shares interior design ideas and DIY hacks with her 10,500 followers.

In a new reel, she said: "I spent far too long of my life painting fences last year and vowed not to do it again so this year, I've resorted to a DIY slatted makeover!"

During the 30-second video, Carly reveals the grey traditional-style overlap fence panels that framed her garden before.

She then cuts to her new, on-trend panels made up of thin wooden horizontal slats.

Below the video, she confirmed she bought trellis battens from East Coast Fencing and used 37 of them to cover one six-foot fence panel.

She added: "I used treated trellis battens which cost 95p per length (1.8m) and I needed 37 of them to complete one panel.

"So the total cost was just £35.15!

"I simply used a nail gun to fix them to the existing wooden uprights in the old fence panel. So quick and easy!

"One panel down, many more to go…

In the comments, keen DIYers shared their reactions, with one writing: "Omg I am so doing this!"
